    Ask this question in the Riverwards L+I Coalition Facebook group. I think it’s private but they will accept you. Their refund policy dictated that they will keep the first 30 days rent no matter how long before you cancel so no after only having the booking for 2 hours today I am out $1000. I already went through the websites refund process but it only got me back 400 dollars out of the $1400 already paid and I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to rectify my mistake.                       There are a couple places in my new (but old) house where the plaster (not drywall) has crumbled away from the brickwork. At least one of the problem areas is as a result of historic damp (now sorted). The other areas are more like large cracks in the plaster – no idea as to the cause.

                      I have been trying for months to get a plasterer in, but I can’t even get on a waiting list. I want to start painting but obviously the walls need fixing first, so I’d like to at least try and have a go myself.

                      I’m unfortunately not very handy. I’ve looked at a few how-tos online, but I get overwhelmed by unfamiliar terminology.

                      Is this something I could reasonably ever manage myself? If so, I would love some accessible resources or starter tips.

                      For context, I’m in an Edwardian semi-detached terrace in England.

                      Replace the ballast or replace the fixture with a new one. Since you already took it down it might be cheaper to find a fixture the same price or cheaper then the ballast.

I’ve tried swapping out working bulbs. I’ve tested the voltage (V~200) of the wires sticking out of the ceiling. (Yes, I’m careful not to touch) Which I learned from research is hot/power (black), neutral (white) and ground. Connecting hot and ground or hot and neutral give 120ish volts, and any other combination results in 0. I believe this means I’m getting power to the fixture. I’ve tried testing the ballast and it seems to be working. Setting my multimeter to ohms (tried both 200 and 2000), then holding the black end to white wire and going through each blue and red wires with the red end. Are there any other tests I could try?
